Origin Story from Carey

As a professional dancer, I always knew I wanted to incorporate dance into my wedding celebration. My husband Zach, who is not a trained dancer but loves to tear up any dance floor, was on board! Once we picked our song, the two of us began creating a dance that felt like “us”… fun, performative, and with some technical dance steps. We ended up having a blast collaborating and tweaking this dance over a long period of time. Our wedding was postponed due to Covid, so we would periodically practice as a fun activity. By the time we got to our wedding, we felt confident (though still had the jitters) performing our first dance for all of our loved ones… and it was a hit! To this day, getting to share that dance is one of the highlights from our wedding.

Part Two: I pulled off the surprise dance of all surprises ; ). Because so many of my friends are trained & professional dancers, I knew I had to do something unique. I sent them instructions and videos of choreography to learn on their own. They had one rehearsal without me, and we miraculously nailed it. My husband was in absolute shock and our guests are still talking about it to this day.
